GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — On Wednesday evening Gadsden County Schools announced the cancellation of free breakfasts and lunches after learning an employee at Stewart Street Elementary School has been hospitalized with symptoms of COVID-19.

Effective immediately, the District will not be preparing or distributing any School Food Service meals at any site or school. This closing of the District’s lunch program will continue until further notice.

The Superintendent and the Gadsden County School Board value the safety and health of each of our employees. In this context, the District is immediately stopping the program of providing breakfasts and lunches.
Roger Milton, Gadsden County Public Schools superintendent

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Science is already exploring methods of providing food to Gadsden County students and children.

Further information will be available in the near future on the District’s website and Facebook page.
