GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. — Gadsden County honored its veterans Wednesday with a picnic at the court house.
Veterans and community members came out to honor and celebrate the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces.
Gadsden County EMS also performed free vital sign and blood pressure checks and offered CPR training.
All of the veterans got a commemorative pin as a reminder of the gratitude of the county and the community.
"We had veterans come in and enjoy a good meal and socialize and state how they feel to be free in this country and we're doing this because we appreciate them serving," said Brenda Holt, Gadsden County Commissioner.
Gadsden County is home to over 3,000 veterans and hosts an annual veterans day celebration in November.
But the county says it wants to show appreciation to those who serve year-round.
