GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners, along with the graduate chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, went red Wednesday night at the courthouse lawn, in support of Heart Health Month.

Representatives from the county's health department were there to educate people on the warning signs and symptoms of heart disease and stroke, and the importance of heart health in women.

"Want all women to make sure that they're taking care of their health and taking care of themselves and putting themselves first when it comes to exercise when it comes to eating right it comes to being there for you and when it comes to being present," said Betty James, president of Gadsden Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Inc.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the U.S! It's said that 9 out of 10 women have one risk factor for heart disease.

So make sure you're checking in with your doctor regularly to find ways to live a more healthy lifestyle.
