GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. — The Gadsden County Commission Chair is explaining why the board terminated the contract of the Gadsden County administrator.

On Tuesday, the Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners held a hearing where they voted 3-to-2 to terminate Dee Jackson's contract without cause.

The three who voted to terminate her are Gene Morgan, Sherrie Taylor, and Eric Hinson.

Jackson was placed on administrative leave, effective immediately, for the next 30 days and will be entitled to her benefits.

"I figure there are other ways this can be resolved. Everyone knows how good she is, they sing her praises so there could be some other way of resolving it by asking her to pay it back or give it to her as a bonus for the good jobs she is been doing," said Dr. Anthony Viegbesie, Gadsden County Commission Chair.

The board then voted to hire Arthur Lawson Sr. as the interim county administrator. He retired from the county about four years ago.

He was previously the assistant county administrator. That vote was also 3-to-2.
