TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(WTXL) — A mural is going up on TCC's campus, and it's all about the Holocaust.
It's at the Holocaust Education Research Council building on TCC's campus.
HERC and TCC are working alongside the FSU Art Therapy Program, to add some color to the building and shine a light on what HERC is.
FSU's Department of Art Education does a mural project every spring.
The faculty director of the project says for the first time they'll be doing a piece with a social justice message.
The mural design aims to communicate themes of resilience and hope, while also acknowledging the history behind the unspeakable atrocities of the Holocaust.
"It's kind of an image of a concentration camp, and sort of moving out of the concentration camp, and, sort of. You see the children planting flowers on the train tracks. It's sort of a metaphor and an image of resilience building and hope, and sort of moving into the future," said Emma McGovern, FSU Art Therapy Associations President.
The entire community is invited to come out and help paint the building between now and March 18, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily.
Any skill set is welcome.
