TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With fans across the country mourning the loss of Alex Trebek, the host of one of America's most popular trivia game shows, one fan at Florida State says she lost a new close friend.
In April, Sophie Casarico was a contestant on Jeopordy, becoming a quarterfinalist for the College Championship and walking away with $5,000.
She says although she didn't win, just being around Alex Trebek was better than any prize.
"I am so so grateful that I got to meet him and get to be in his presence, even just for a little bit," said Casarico. "I think that his legacy will live on, although I don't know how the show is going to be the same anymore."
Casarico also says she keeps in contact with her fellow contestants from the show, and they all say they feel the loss of a great friend.
