TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — For the first time ever, the Florida State men's basketball team is the ACC regular season Champions.
They secured that title after beating Boston College on Saturday.
Now, this team has their sights set on winning their first ACC Tournament title since 2012, and that journey begins Thursday when they'll take the floor in Greensboro for the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals.
Their opponent will be either Clemson or Miami, and is still to be determined.
Being that one seed means they'll only need to win three games to bring home their first title in nearly a decade versus five.
"There's no doubt that we take into consideration that the quality of our depth keeps us fresher and we're able to not extend ourselves that much,"
said Leonard Hamilton, Florida State head men's basketball coach. "Once you get into the post-season tournament, it's anybody's game. A team that's not playing well can get on a hot streak. A team who's excellent can find themselves very challenging."
They are in the quarterfinals Thursday at 12:30.
If they win, they'll make it to Friday's Semifinals.
Win that, and they're in Saturday's ACC Tournament Championship game.
