TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — With a new head coach for the Seminoles, fans are celebrating and showing excitement for the future.

The Florida State faithful were celebrating today in Collegetown.

With Mike Norvell now in place, fans are focused on the future.

A change many FSU fans have been patiently waiting on since the university parted ways with Willie Taggart in November. Many excited to learn Mike Norvell will lead the team.

"This guy Norvell...he's innovative, he's smart, he's young...and he's very intelligent," said Don Bryen, an FSU Fan.

With Norvell now at the helm long-time fans and even younger fans are looking forward to the future.

"I felt like with Willie Taggart...it just didn't work. So maybe with the new head coach...it'll work out better..they'll play better and games will start selling out," said FSU younger fans.

Fans also say that in order for the team to succeed there is no time to waste.

"He's gotta jump on the recruiting troll right now because we're losing kids. He's the type of coach I think that the kids are gonna wanna play for," said Don Bryen.

"Hopefully we'll get it done pretty soon though..I know it takes time for coaches to get used to the new team..but hopefully by the new semester we'll by maybe next semester in the new year...we'll get that in," said Andreas Arrieta an FSU Fan.

Bryen says while he is disappointed that things didn't work out with Taggart, moving on was the right thing to do.

"I think from the get go it was heading in the wrong direction as good as a person that he is...and it was a tough thing to let him go I know that FSU didn't wanna do that they wanted the best case scenario.

Now with the Taggart era in the rearview mirror fans are excited once again.

Even fans we spoke to off camera today, said they believe, Mike Norvell is the best fit for the future of the program and say they plan on attending more home games next season.
