TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — It was a celebration of Florida State University at the Capitol on Tuesday.
It was a sea of garnet and gold as a pep rally got the crowd going in the plaza, a band from the College of Music played, and FSU cheerleaders cheered.
FSU Day at the Capitol is an annual event and a chance for FSU to shine a spotlight on its academic and athletic success to their friends in the legislature, who the university depends on for the support they get throughout the year.
FSU President John Thrasher spoke at the event, recognizing FSU's national champion soccer and softball teams, and alumni in the legislature.
"It's a great opportunity for us to show off a little bit. Show our great programs, our students that are here," said Thrasher. "Show our legislators that this is a great university and an elite university in America."
There were also displays and information tables set up inside the Capitol with information about some of the different academic programs FSU offers.
