TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Florida State University announced Wednesday they will allow student events with up to 50 people, whether inside or outside.

The vice president for Student Affairs, Dr. Amy Hecht said the policy allows FSU student organizations to begin safely hosting events without alcohol and following the safety protocols that are in place.

Hecht said FSU's COVID-19 positivity rate has continued to decrease and many students are following the guidelines including masks and social distancing.

"We know how challenging this has been and we appreciate all you do to help keep our community safe," Hecht said in a released statement. "Because of your efforts and our low positivity rate, I have decided to return student events to the initial 50 individuals, whether indoors or outdoors."
