FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — This holiday is extra special for three men who are overcoming difficult times to get their lives back on track.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office had its third graduation ceremony for its Fresh Start Program participants on Sunday.
Sheriff A.J. Smith says illegal drugs are a big problem in Franklin County and one of their successful program focuses on rehabilitation for drug users, or incarceration if necessary. One of the graduates says this program helped him turn his life around for the better.
"It helps you realize your potential in life and it helps you change your life. There are so many different volunteers that are there for you and just they give you a structured environment and they help you so much," said Richard Sands, who graduated from the program over the weekend. "I mean, I went back to school and got my GED we had a counseling classes and they are really there for you 100 percent. "
Also graduating with Sands was Tobias Rhodes and Billy Dalton.
