FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. — Spring Break is one thing that many high school and college students look forward to, but Franklin County is a destination that has surprisingly seen an uptick on those looking to get away from their studies.

The county doesn't typically have a large spring break, however they're seeing a high influx from Wakulla County and other areas.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has already accounted for twenty stops on Saint George island.

The sheriff's office says stops have mainly been because of underage drinking, marijuana, and drinking and driving.

"We're going to continue increased and kind of a zero tolerance. If you're underage and you're drinking you're going to get arrested, if you're driving erratically, you're going to get a ticket," said Franklin County Sheriff A.J. "Tony" Smith. "And we're going to be out in force, so please come and enjoy our beaches, but behave yourself."

The sheriff's office even had to bring in extra deputies to cover for the higher number of people on vacation, and keep everyone safe.
