ST. GEORGE ISLAND, Fla. (WTXL) — The beautiful weather is just inviting enough to head to the beach but in Franklin County the hours are limited.
The sandy beaches of St. George Island are empty.
People are allowed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and then again from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
People who live on St. George Island say they’re looking forward to when beaches completely reopen.
“I actually got to go out on the beach for the first time legally, you know for quite a while," said St. George resident, Brian Krontz. "I went paddle boarding this morning, so that felt good. I think they should just go ahead and open it up. Even in the summertime, this place is full capacity, you go out on the beach people are still 100, 150 feet apart.”
Anyone found violating the beach rules could be slapped with a misdemeanor which could include a $500 fine or up to 60 days in jail.
