TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — If you are an aging wartime veteran, age 65 or older, or a wartime veteran surviving spouse, there are thousands of dollars of tax-free income benefits you may be eligible for.

The Florida Veterans Foundation provided free seminars Friday, which were to help those determine eligibility, qualifications, and getting paperwork started.

The benefits are called VA Pension with Aid and Attendance and Veteran Spouse Survivor Benefits.

We spoke to a local veteran about how the benefits can help veterans.

"These are benefits the VA pension offers that aging wartime veterans do not know about and it could help with subsidizing there long-term care benefits in their remaining years," said Lew Wilson, a local veteran.
