TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The 2019 Florida Watermelon Queen, Avianna Luizzo, traveled to Tallahassee to help out the Second Harvest of the Big Bend Wednesday.

She visited with local kids participating in the food bank's Summer Feeding Program.

The Florida Watermelon Queen boarded the Food on the Move bus, where she stopped in local neighborhoods to share a healthy meal with at-risk kids. The bus helps to bridge the food gap during the summer, for kids who rely on school for most of their meals during the school year.

But Wednesday, in addition to healthy meals, each kid was given a Florida watermelon to take home.

"You know you want to always reach out to the community because communities give so much to you so you want to give it back," said Liuzzo.

Liuzzo attends the University of Florida, where she majors in Animal Science.
