TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Governor Ron Desantis' temporary hold on evictions is set to expire in less than a week while many Floridians wait for a rebound.

Currently, there are rules in place suspending all evictions in Florida until June 2.

But even during the suspension order landlords have filed hundreds of evictions.

According to one legal expert that could mean a flood of tenants could be out on the streets in a matter of days.

"A lot of these cases are potentially at that point, where they've already moved quite along and its just a matter of going to the Sheriff and getting a 48-hour notice posted on your front door," said Tom DiFiore, a team leader at Bay Area Legal Services.

For those facing eviction due to the financial fallout from the pandemic experts say you should try to negotiate a payment plan or settlement with your landlord.

And if you were evicted during the suspension period there is legal help out there to assist you.
