TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Day one of six is done for Florida lawyer Mike Freed.

Freed is running from The Florida Supreme Court to Jacksonville in an effort to raise awareness about families that need financial aid for pediatric care.

Freed started his run at 7:30 Monday morning and arrived in Monticello around noon.

He says the hardest part of this marathon are the hills of Florida, but says he can get through knowing it's for a good cause.

"There's a lot of people that have legal needs that can't afford lawyers," said Freed. "So this program helps a particular population of the indigent, that helps pediatric patients and their families navigate the legal challenges, the regulatory challenges, the handicap access challenges, and the insurance challenges that come with their chronic or terminal illness, so that we can make their load a little lighter. And that's what this program is all about "

Free will leave Monticello Tuesday morning and will run 26 miles to Madison.
