TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Along with passing a record $91.1 billion budget, lawmakers approved a host of other priorities of Governor Ron DeSantis.
It included an increase in school funding and more money for Everglades restoration and water quality projects.
Lawmakers also passed a plan that would carry out a constitutional amendment designed to restore the voting rights of felons who have fulfilled their sentences.
Lawmakers also passed a plan that could lead to importing lower-cost prescription drugs from Canada, if the federal government approves.
"Let us do something that can modify this horrible reality of having to pay more for drugs than anyone else in the world," said State Senator Doug Broxson, R-Gulf Breeze.
Lawmakers also passed a wide-ranging bill designed to bolster school safety, including expanding the school "guardian" program to allow-armed-classroom teachers.
