TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Creating conversations to help end racial disparity within our community, that's the goal of the Research Symposium on Racial Equity.
The Florida Institute for Child Welfare hosted the event Thursday, bringing child welfare workers and advocates from across the state for people to learn ways to stop racial inequality.
Some of the keynote speakers' goals were to inspire and challenge attendees to create stronger relationships withing the community and offer more training to their staff.
One keynote speaker addresses what an amazing opportunity the symposium is.
"This is an opportunity for us to figure out the most effective way to begin seeing color and not to be as color blind," said Corey Best, one of the keynote speakers.
The research symposium will continue Friday at 8:30 a.m. at Hotel Duval for anyone who would like to attend.
