Florida Department of Health reports 23 COVID-19 cases in Leon County

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida Department of Health has reported two new positive cases of coronavirus in Leon County, bringing the total amount of cases reported to 23.

According to the Monday afternoon update from FDOH, a 25-year-old woman and a 42-year-old woman tested positive for the virus.

Officials say the 25-year-old woman recently traveled to Colorado and Virginia and did have contact with a confirmed case before testing positive. The 42-year-old woman did not have a history of travel before testing positive but did have contact with a confirmed case.

The previous cases reported Monday morning involve three men: a 31-year-old man, a 26-year-old man and a 71-year-old man. At this time, it is unknown if any of the cases are travel-related or if they had direct contact with confirmed case.

Over the weekend, FDOH reported two more cases of COVID-19 in the county.

A total of 20 Leon County residents have tested positive for COVID-19. So far, FDOH reports 557 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the county, with 534 negative tests reported.

The number of people tested throughout the county is likely much higher than that as tests here and across the state are still pending results.
