(WTXL) — Florida's Attorney General is investigating more than 20 vaping companies that sell their products in the state.
Ashley Moody said Wednesday there's a growing epidemic of teens using the e-cigarettes. Close to one in four high school students in Florida says they use e-cigarettes.
Moody said the investigation will focus on the ways the companies market the products, to see if they're targeting minors.
"We will focus on whether these companies intentionally targeted minors, whether their claims regarding health effects are based in reality, and whether they are using effective online age verification process," said Moody
.
She said there have been 52 cases of vaping-related illnesses in Florida. At least 26 people have died across the U.S. as of October 10.
