First Black male Circuit Judge appointed to the Second Judicial Circuit

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — History in the making: Florida's first African American male Circuit Judge for the Second Judicial Circuit has officially been sworn in.

The community gathered Friday afternoon to see Stephen Everett take oath to serve Tallahassee. Everett is taking position as the new circuit judge for the second judicial circuit.

He will be responsible for criminal, civil, and family cases. Everett is eager to take serve the community.

“People want to see a bench that reflects the community and reflects themselves in that regard so it’s very important," said Everett.

Everett was first appointed to the Leon County bench in 2016.
