TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — People staying at the Kearney Center and their other temporary locations are going to be enjoying some delicious and nutritious lunches for the next few weeks.

Firehouse Subs is partnering with the Capital Area chapter of the American Red Cross to deliver meals to the shelter.

They started on Tuesday, delivering 235 subs for lunch, and they'll continue until they've donated 1,400 meals to families in need.

"As you know, because of COVID-19, Kearney Center has had to parcel out the residence there to four different locations," said Sharon Tyler, the executive director at the Capital Area chapter of the American Red Cross. "Feeding is always a challenge, but it's made it even more challenging, and so Firehouse offered to do two meals a week for three weeks."

Since mid-March, more than 51,000 meals have been donated through Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation to help feed people in need and those working on the front lines of the pandemic.
