SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla.(WTXL) — Troopers are investigating after two people were hit by a vehicle while walking overnight in Suwannee County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened Sunday around 1:35 a.m. on 216th Street just east of 51st Drive.
FHP says a pickup truck and two pedestrians were both heading eastbound on 216th Street.
While traveling, the driver hit the pedestrians with the front portion of his vehicle.
Sadly, one of the pedestrians was pronounced deceased on scene. That victim has been identified as a 28-year-old man.
The other pedestrian, a 26-year-old woman, was transported to Lake City Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.
Authorities say the driver sustained no injuries during the crash.
