SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla.(WTXL) — Troopers say two people were killed in a head on crash Thursday evening on U.S. Highway 129 in Suwannee County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened on U.S. Highway 129 at 44th Place around 5:42 p.m. on Thursday.
FHP says two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions on U.S. 129.
Due to unknown reasons, the driver of one of the cars steered into the northbound lane causing a head on crash with the other vehicle.
After the crash, the vehicle that had a 72-year-old driver rotated in a clockwise direction and came to a final stop facing south.
Troopers say the other vehicle that had a 54-year-old driver overturned and came to final rest off the east shoulder o facing a southwesterly direction.
The 72-year-old woman was transported to Shands Live Oak with serious injuries.
Sadly, the 54-year-old and his passenger were pronounced deceased on scene.
