TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Troopers are investigating after they say three people were hurt during a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 98 in Taylor County.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened Wednesday around 3:38 p.m. on U.S. Highway 98 at Econfina River.
FHP says a Mack dump truck was traveling east on US Hwy 98 in the eastbound lane.
While a Ford SUV was slowed to a stop on US Hwy 98, waiting for westbound traffic to pass to make a left turn into the Cabbage Creek Tract Boat Ramp entrance.
The Mack truck then crossed into the westbound lane, running a bystander off the road and crashing into the back of the SUV.
The truck then traveled onto the north shoulder and crashed into the guardrail
Troopers say the driver continued to traveling a northeasterly direction, overturning in the north ditch.
The Mack truck came to final rest facing in a northeasterly direction, on its right side, in the north ditch of US Hwy 98.
FHP says after being hit, the Ford SUV rotated in a counter-clockwise manner and also crashed into the north guardrail.
The SUV came to final rest facing in a northeasterly direction in the eastbound lane of US Hwy 98.
The driver and passenger of the SUV were transported to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare suffering from serious injuries.
The driver of the Mack truck was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities say charges are pending investigation.
