Tallahassee man dies after driving car into Ochlockonee River, FHP says

QUINCY, Fla. (WTXL) — A 26-year-old Tallahassee man is dead after troopers say he drove into the Ochlockonee River near the Leon-Gadsden county line.

The Florida Highway Patrol says they responded to the crash near the Ochlockonee River Boat Ramp Drive off U.S. 90 (Blue Star Highway) around 2:17 a.m. on Monday.

Troopers say the driver was traveling east on Ochlockonee River Boat Ramp Drive from U.S. 90 when, for an unknown reason, he drove into the Ochlockonee River where his car overturned.

The driver, who has not been identified by FHP, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Leon County Dive Team and the Gadsden County Sheriff's office assisted FHP in the crash.
