LIBERTY COUNTY FLA. (WTXL) — An 18-year-old Bristol man has been charged with first degree murder after troopers say he intentionally hit and killed another man with a car.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday near the intersection of Turkey Creek Road and NW Cobbler Court.

They said the man was driving a stolen car westbound on NW Cobbler Court while another 18-year-old man was walking along the same road.

Troopers say the driver, who they did not identify, then intentionally hit the victim with his car and kept driving until the car crashed into a parked boat.

After the crash, the driver tried to leave the scene but was arrested a short time later.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, resulting in the driver being charged with first degree murder, grand theft of a motor vehicle and driving without a valid license.

Troopers have not identified the victim.

FHP said they were assisted on scene by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Liberty County Sheriff’s office.

This is a developing story.
