SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run crash that sent two people to the hospital suffering from serious injuries.
Troopers say the crash happened around 9:36 p.m. Tuesday on I-10 EB near mile marker 288.
According to FHP, Marlon Ivey,53, was heading westbound on I-10 in the travel lane, while Joshua Martinez,29, was heading eastbound in the inside travel lane.
Troopers say an unknown driver who was also heading westbound, attempted to drive pass Ivey to get in front of him.
While trying to pass Ivey, the unknown driver hit the passenger's side of his car, causing Ivey to drive off the road into the direction of Martinez.
FHP says this then caused Martinez to collide with Ivey and both cars to spin out of control.
Ivey's vehicle eventually landed on the side of the road in a ditch and Martinez's car ended up flipping over before also landing in a ditch, according to documents.
Meanwhile, the unknown driver kept traveling west on I-10.
Troopers say both men were transported to local hospitals suffering from serious injuries.
