Crawfordville man killed after crashing into tree off Springhill Road

LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the 21-year-old man who was killed in a crash on Springhill Road Thursday morning.

Troopers say Levi Spears, 21, of Crawfordville was traveling north on Springhill Road, just south of Bice Road just after midnight on Thursday. For unknown reasons, they say Spears drove across the southbound lanes and onto the shoulder, crashing into a tree.

He was pronounced deceased on scene by Leon County Emergency Medical Services.

A toxicology report is pending on Spears. They say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Wakulla County Sheriff's Office and Tallahassee Fire Department.


Troopers are investigating a fatal crash on Springhill Road near the Leon-Wakulla County line.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:46 a.m Thursday morning. FHP reported that the intersection of Springhill Road and New Light Church Road was blocked due to the crash.

The road has since been reopened. At this time, it is unclear how many people have died or how many vehicles were involved.
