JEFFERSON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Troopers say one person is dead after a crash on US Highway 27 in Jefferson County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 7:42 p.m. Tuesday on US Highway 27 and US Highway 19 in Jefferson County.
They say Steve Turner, 28, of Perry died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Troopers say Turner was heading west on US Highway 27, approaching US highway 19 when he ran into the back of a semi tractor-trailer.
After the impact, the car became wedged under the trailer. The trailer then proceeded to move to the side of the road on Highway 27 with the car still attached to it.
FHP was assisted on scene by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and EMS.
Authorities say next of kin have been notified and charges are pending.
