LAKELAND, Fla. (WTXL) — A 58-year-old man has been arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement after being accused of drugging an autistic child in Hamilton County and sexually battering the child before he died.

Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested Alain Luis Forget, 58, of Lakeland on charges of lewd and lascivious battery on a child less than 16 and two counts of delivery of a controlled substance to a minor.

On December 27, 2017, with the permission of the child’s grandmother, Forget took the 15-year- old autistic boy to a home in rural Hamilton County. The residence had belonged to Forget’s deceased father.

Two days later, agents say the child was found unresponsive and Forget called an ambulance. The child was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

In January 2018, an autopsy revealed the victim had morphine and Xanex in his system and a medical examiner determined the child died from pneumonia and drug toxicity.

Agents then interviewed the victims’ family members and others who were familiar with Forget. Based on the evidence, agents believe Forget gave the child drugs and sexually battered him prior to his death. During interviews, additional sexual abuse allegations were made against Forget.

Forget was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Lake County Jail. The case is ongoing and there could be additional charges.

Agents believe there could be additional victims. Forget has residences in Lakeland and Sorrento (Lake County), Florida. If you have any information about Alain Luis Forget, please contact FDLE’s Live Oak Field Office at (800) 226-5630.
