MADISON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida Highway Patrol says one teen is dead and two others are in serious condition after a crash on I-10 in Madison County.

Troopers say the crash happened around 8:20 p.m. Friday on I-10 westbound near mile marker 240.

They say a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer, driven by a 24-year-old woman, was going west in the inside lane when she failed to follow a curve in the road, causing the car to go into the media.

The driver steered right to get back onto the road and then quickly steered left, causing the driver to lose control of the car. The car drove into the median again and overturned, the car's roof crashing into a tree.

A 19-year-old passenger, Stephan Habinowski of Pembroke Pines, died at the scene. Another 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were seriously injured in the crash.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, only sustained minor injuries.

FHP says charges are pending investigation.
