QUINCY, Fla. — 100,000 pounds of food were given away to over 80,000 households.

Farm Share's free food giveaway Friday was a coming together of communities to make sure nobody goes hungry.

The Quincy Farm Share's annual fall event kicked off at 9:00 a.m. Friday, but the first car got in line at 8:00 p.m. Thursday night.

Cars were filled with food and other essential items like blankets.

Event organizers say events like these are critical, so people in need can get groceries to feed their family.

"It's really great. People pass by and some get a little chocked up. They are very excited because they didn't know how they were going to feed their families this week," said Emily Massau, event coordinator of Quincy Farm Share.

Farm Share has another giveaway coming up. It's Nov. 27 at 9:00 a.m. at the Tallahassee Mall. They will be giving away turkeys and warm coats.
