TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Florida A&M University is launching a new digital tool to answer common questions about the University’s coronavirus response and reopening.
FAMU's chatbot leverages artificial intelligence to provide users the latest information on COVID-19 related safety protocols and associated resources at the University.
The university says it will be a time-saving tool to help Rattlers navigate hundreds of pages of safety plans to find the answers they need to prepare for a safe return to campus.
“This application reflects our latest effort to ensure that our students, parents, and other stakeholders are able to easily access the information they need to make important decisions during our reopening,” said President Larry Robinson. “As fall semester classes begin, we hope this chatbot facilitates a smooth and successful return to campus for our students. We’re happy to have them back and want to keep them informed.”
The FAMU Information Technology Department partnered with woman-owned tech companies, VB Consulting and RockIT Data, to build, customize, and launch this solution.
Powered by Amazon Web Services, the chatbot also stores user prompts so that FAMU can update chatbot answers or create new resources that address common questions.
