TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Florida A&M University's Concert Choir is sharing a message with their song "A New Day," spreading hope through music.

They wrote the song to let people know they are not alone during COVID-19, paying tribute to people who lost their lives during the pandemic as well as highlighting social justice issues.

As we enter month eight since the pandemic reached the U.S., choir members are hoping things will get better soon.

"We, as the concert choir, we decided that we think this is the most important time where we can spread the message of hope, unity, love," said Darien Bolden, Jr., the president of the Concert Choir. "Despite the coronavirus, despite police brutality, despite everything that's happening in America and even throughout the world. We just need a new day we need a new refreshing, a new start, we need a healing to take place."

COVID-19 impacted the choir directly earlier this year canceling their trip to Carnegie Hall in March.

The song released late last month is available for everyone to hear on their FAMU Concert Choir Youtube page, by clicking here, and on social media by clicking here.
