ALLIGATOR POINT, Fla. (WTXL) — Family and friends of Darren Peterson say they're not giving hope he's still out there, somewhere.
It's been a week since he disappeared.
Petersen and two others were on a boat off the coast of Alligator Point, when it went under.
Investigators believe it sank due to a mechanical failure.
The Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission searched the waters for about four days before suspending the search.
Volunteer crews are now taking over.
This might not look like much, but it's an estimate of everywhere they've covered searching over 5,000 miles in the water in the past five days.
Family is flying in from Colorado to keep looking for him.
The group is raising money to make sure they don't have to stop, until they find him.
