Elderly man killed in car accident in Hamilton County

HAMILTON COUNTY, Fla. — An 84-year-old Jasper man was killed after hitting a freight truck in Hamilton County.

Theodore Baker, of Jasper, died from his injuries sustained in the accident.

According to Florida Highway, the accident happened at about 1:17 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of US 129 and SE Central Avenue.

Baker was traveling north on US-41 approaching the intersection at SE Central Avenue and another vehicle was directly behind Baker.

A freight truck was traveling south on US-41.

FHP said for reasons still unknown, Baker crossed the center line, and hit the freight truck, causing a tire to hit the hood of the other vehicle.

Baker was taken to Shands Live Oak hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the freight truck and the other vehicle did not sustain injuries in the accident.
