JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. — A 72-year-old man was killed after he drove off the road and hit a culvert, causing his car to go airborne.
James Hayes died from his injuries sustained in the accident.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 2:35 p.m. Tuesday on State Road 77 in Jackson County.
FHP states that Hayes was driving northbound on State Road 77 and began to pass slower traffic. While passing, Hayes drifted onto the shoulder and hit a culvert, which caused his car to go airborne and overturn.
