TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Dog food sold at Winn-Dixie stores and Harveys Supermarkets in the Big Bend and South Georgia has been recalled due to a toxin that could make your pet sick.

On Thursday, Southeastern Grocers (SEG), the parent company of BI-LO, Fresco y Más, Harveys Supermarkets and Winn-Dixie stores, issued a voluntary recall for a Whiskers & Tails dog food product sold in the pet aisle.

The affected product and corresponding UPC code is as follows: Whiskers & Tails Adult Recipe Complete Dog Food – 17lb bag – 2114003022

"The recall is due to the presence of aflatoxin in the product above the acceptable level," the release read.

The company says the product was sold in all Harveys Supermarkets in Florida and Georgia, and select Winn-Dixie stores in North and West Florida, as well as South Georgia and Alabama.

A list of all the local stores the product was sold in is below:

If you have this product in your home, you should throw it away or return it to any store for a full refund.

According to the FDA, aflatoxin is a naturally occurring mold by-product from the growth of Aspergillus flavus and can be harmful to pets if consumed in significant quantities.

The agency says pets that have consumed products with too much aflatoxin exhibit symptoms of illness including sluggishness or lethargy combined with a reluctance to eat, vomiting, yellowish tint to the eyes or gums, or diarrhea should be seen by a veterinarian.

Customers with questions about the recalled products may contact the Southeastern Grocers Customer Call Center toll free at (844) 745-0463, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. EDT, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT.
