LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Leon County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a jury duty scam that has resurfaced in the area.

Deputies say scammers are calling victim's and impersonating the Sheriff's Office to inform people that they've missed Jury duty for the month and have a warrant issued for their arrest.

The scammer then tells the victim that they have to pay a specific amount in order for the warrant to be dismissed.

LCSO says they will never call and ask you to pay for a warrant over the phone.

Deputies are also encouraging residents not to send any money over the phone, with a gift card, or any other type of payment.

If you do get a call from a possible scammer, call the Leon County Sheriff's Office at 850-606-3300.
