GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Gadsden County Sheriff's office is warning the public after reports of scam calls claiming that you qualify for $1,000 to $14,000 in relief from the federal government due to the coronavirus.

Deputies say scammers are trying to take advantage of the COVID-19 fears by claiming to be calling about President Trump’s Stimulus Package.

The scammers tell victims that they qualify for $1,000 to $14,000 in relief from the federal government and say all you have to do is give them your debit or credit card information.

However, that check never comes and oftentimes, the victim ends up getting their personal information stolen.

GCSO says you should never give out your credit card information, especially when the offer seems too good to be true.
