Deputies: Paramedic stole vials of medicine off ambulances, replaced them with saline

SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A paramedic in Suwannee County has been arrested after deputies say he admitted to stealing vials of medicine off ambulances, emptying them and replacing them with saline.

According to deputies, Suwannee County Fire Rescue (SCFR) Chief Eddie Hand recently contacted the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office about to someone tampering with several vials of narcotics on their ambulances.

Through an investigation, deputies determined that the contents of numerous vials of controlled substances were removed and replaced with saline.

Later on, 43-year-old James Jolly Johnson (aka JJ), a SCFR paramedic, confessed to stealing the drugs.

He was arrested and transported to the Suwannee County Jail where he was charged with grand theft and possession of controlled substance.
