TAYLOR COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Deputies are searching for a missing man whose vehicle was found abandoned in a remote area in Taylor County.

Tuesday evening, Taylor County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a remote area off Loren Henderson Road in reference to an abandoned vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 48-year-old Bruce Wayne Smith. Smith was not located with the vehicle, however footprints leading from the vehicle lead investigators deeper into a nearby wooded area.

Smith was reportedly last seen on Sept. 8 in Ocala around 3 p.m. at the Reliance/Diamond Oil convenience store at Baseline Rd and NE 7th Street. They say he is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs about 170-180 lbs with black hair and brown eyes.

If you have any information on Mr. Smith’s whereabouts or recall seeing him, you are asked to please contact TCSO Lieutenant Gina Deeson at 850-843-3453 or Communications at 850-584-2429.
