MARIANNA, Fla. — A man in Jackson County is accused of stabbing his wife to death in front of their children after he tried to ram his car through the front door of their home.
Right now, deputies say they don't know what led to this attack.
Jackson County deputies say they received a call reporting fight happening at a house int he 5000 block of Reddock Road Sunday morning. Three children were home at the time.
One child in the home told deputies that their father tried to force his way into the house by running his car into the front door.
When deputies arrived, they found 51-year-old Lyia Dogion dead on a bedroom floor. She had been stabbed several times.
Her husband, 68-year-old Michael Dogion, barricaded himself in the bathroom to avoid deputies. Deputies were able to get the children out safely.
"I think the children did a very good job defending themselves the best they could," said Jackson County Sheriff Louis Roberts. "It's very sad that these children have lost basically both parents, the mother who is deceased and the father who is incarcerated."
According to Jackson County deputies, the children will be okay physically.
Dogion is at a nearby hospital, he faces a murder charge. Investigators are still waiting on autopsy results.
None of the children were hurt in the attack. Deputies say they are now staying at a safe house.
