FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. — A missing 70-year-old woman who was last seen in Lanark Village Monday afternoon has been found safe.

Michelle Majerus was found on Lake Morality Road and Highway 98 in Carrabelle. A driver found her walking down the road and recovered her safely into his truck until the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and EMS could get to her.

FCSO said they will give updates as more of the story unfolds. They said for now she is going to get medical attention.

Multiple agencies are coming together to search for a missing 70-year-old woman who was last seen in Lanark Village Monday afternoon.

Michelle Rae Majerus was noticed missing at about 3:30 p.m. Monday. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says she may be in the early stages of dementia and is partially blind.

Monday night, FCSO, the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission, volunteers and other agencies did a door-to-door search for Majerus. Tuesday, the combined agencies, including a K-9 and a drone team from Tallahassee, are doing a grid search for the missing woman.

FCSO is deploying a dive team Wednesday to search ponds and possibly the Gulf at a later time. They are also expanding the search deeper into the woods by helicopter as well as drones.

"The best thing the community can do is just be talking to your neighbors, spread the word, let people know who we're looking for," said Sheriff A.J. "Tony" Smith, "and it'd be great if she was in someone's home resting and someone had not heard that she's been missing yet, so talk to your neighbors, let them know."

She was last seen in the area of Oak Street in Lanark Village and was wearing a white shirt and a tan ball cap. Her glasses and phone were found inside of her home. Majerus is 5'7" with dark blonde/light brown hair and brown eyes.

Sheriff Smith says his office is treating this as a missing person's case. Investigators are also looking for signs of foul play, but at this point, nothing points to a need for a criminal investigation.

If you have any information on her whereabouts please contact the Franklin County Sheriff's Office at 850-670-8500.
