FOUND: Deputies looking for 6-year-old autistic boy who walked away from home

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is actively looking for a 6-year-old autistic boy who walked away from his home located on Teak Trail in Pinetta.

Currently multiple deputies along with officers from Madison Correctional Institution and Hamilton Correctional Institution K9 tracking teams are aggressively searching the area for James.

Air support has been requested from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and will be in the area soon.

MCSO says he is mostly nonverbal and may not respond to his name. James is described as just under four feet tall and weighs approximately 55 pounds.

He was last seen wearing red knee length athletic shorts with a black stripe down each side and was not wearing a shirt or shoes at the time he wondered off.

James is attracted to moving vehicles and will walk toward them. It is very important to use extreme caution while driving in the area. He is also attracted to animals especially horses and loves water.

If you are traveling in the area please use caution. If you see James please call 911 immediately with your location.

MCSO said James is not scared of strangers but will resist touch.
