DECATUR COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — Decatur County Schools will be closed on Thursday, the district announced on Wednesday.
After reviewing the amount of rain the county is to receive through the night due to Tropical Storm Sally, the district decided to close schools on Thursday, September 17 for all faculty and staff.
"We do not want to take any chances with student and staff safety by having buses on the road during the dark morning hours with uncertain road conditions," wrote Superintendent Tim Cochran in a message posted to social media.
Schools are expected to reopen on Friday.
