TIFTON, Ga. (WTXL) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in after a 2-year-old was shot and killed in Tifton.
The GBI says on Sept. 3, the Tift County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a child not breathing at a home in the 1700 block of Mosley Avenue in Tifton.
When they arrived, deputies discovered that 2-year-old Mirakle Brown was unresponsive. The child was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Tift County Sheriff’s Office then requested the GBI to assist in a death investigation. On Tuesday, the GBI said preliminary information indicated that Mirakle and a 6-year-old child were in a bedroom alone when a gun was discharged, hitting Mirakle in the head.
Right now, an investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
Mirakle's body has been transported to the GBI Crime Lab and autopsy results are pending.
Anyone with information related to this investigation is encouraged to call the Tift County Sheriff’s Office at 229-388-6020 or the GBI’s Regional Office in Sylvester at 229-777-2080.
