Deadly crash reported on Coastal Highway in Wakulla County

WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Troopers say a 78-year-old man is dead after crash on Coastal Highway near the Wildwood Golf and RV Resort.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Kenneth Chadwell was driving in Chevrolet Monte Carlo on Coastal Highway when the vehicle left the roadway.

After leaving the roadway, the vehicle hit two trees before overturning and coming to a rest on its hood.

At this time troopers don't know what caused the accident.

Chadwell's Chevy was the only vehicle involved and he was the only person inside.

FHP says he was wearing a seat belt and alcohol was not involved.

Chadwell was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, where he was pronounced deceased due to injuries from the crash.

FHP was assisted by the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office and county Fire Rescue.


The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal crash on Coastal Highway near the Wildwood Golf and RV Resort.

Troopers responded to the crash around 4:49 p.m. Tuesday. It happened in the 3800 block of Coastal Highway near Lonesome Road in Crawfordville.

At least one person has been killed in the crash. FHP is asking drivers to use caution while driving in the area.

Troopers have not identified any of the parties involved in the crash.
